Chicago by hkskyline - Part 6

Thanks for all your support to the past parts of my Chicago series. Chicago has been on my travel radar for quite a few years already, but lack of cheap flights was a major deterrent until I moved to New York last summer. Armed with hotel reward points on hand, I flew on cheap ATA and stayed two nights free near Midway, then paid a night at a downtown boutique hotel. Quite a nice stay but too bad the weather didn't co-operate.

1. Sears Tower's simple tubular structure :

2. I first went up Sears Tower in 2000. It was a cold March morning and the skies were nowhere as pretty as this second visit :

3. Michigan Avenue had a major overhaul since my first visit. There were shrubs and flowers everywhere, which really prettied up the streetscape. I was very impressed. You don't need to pay an arm and a leg to make a city look nice, and Chicago did a great job.

5. The best part is the added greenery did not make the sidewalks too narrow. A lot of people could still fit in there comfortably.

6. I wasn't too interested in the shopping though.

7. How much for a view?

11. Even in November, there can still be greenery in the city.

15. The history is set in a nice leafy square :

22. Yes, the clouds are beginning to roll in again ....
