Iditarod Dog Sled Ceremonies (Alaska)

Merhaba Alright so I decided to mozy on down to 4th Avenue in Anchorage to catch the annual Iditarod -- an event commemorating the 1925 emergency serum run to Nome which was struck by an epidemic with the only antitoxins being in Anchorage. The worlds best arrive here every year to show whoÂ's boss.

Felt like 10 degrees FÂ… feels like manly weather! (I keed)

The start line in front of the gaudy Sunshine Plaza.

One of the teams heading to the starting line. Just so you know, they send off teams every 5 minutes, I believe. An all at once start would be impossible, not to mention a recipe for international disaster.

As the 50 or so teams start heading off, the place starts to emptyÂ… back to normal, for downtown, I suppose.

Till then, catch you later.
