If you are tired with photos of Federation tower here we go. Mayakovsky square, Mayakovsky himself, hotel Beijing in the background.
Ritz-Carlton hotel was built some 2 or 3 months ago. Earlier a huge brown commieblock-type hotel "Inturist" was situated here.
They destroyed Inturist and built a new building in 19th century style like surrounding buildings on Tverskaya street. Still i don't understand what is that glass box doing on the roof.
Metropol hotel.
No need to translate i guess?
Maybe those who love old ridiculous American films about Russia can recognize this view from the "Red heat"
In 30's hotel "Moscow" was built here in honour of Stalin. One interesting legend connected with it: Stalin himself had to choose one of many projects of the future hotel. Accidently he put his sign on 2 different drawings and nobody had enough courage to ask Stalin to reconcider his decision. That's why the hotel was assymetrical. Not so long ago Moscow authorities decided to rebuild the hotel.
Here is construction site:
Souvenirs.
Marshal Zhukov - the most outstanding soviet military commander.
Red square.
Spasskaya tower, Lenin mausoleum. The yellow building behind the wall is a former Supreme Soviet.
Senate Palace of Kremlin. The windows are president's office and secretariat. Below there is so called Kremlin necropolis where the most important people in soviet history were buried. Here from the left: Sverdlov, Frunze, Zhdanov, Voroshilov, Budyonny. To the left of Mausoleum there are Breznhev, Dzerjinsky, Andropov, Kalinin, Stalin and Suslov.
Saint Basil's Cathederal. In Moscow they like to set up giant сones and call them "Christmas trees". One of those ugly green structures here.
Museum of History.
Tomb of the Unknown Soldier and its guard.
Changing guard, every hour.
Up to 1993 the location of the Honour Guard first post was near the Mausoleum.
Saint George, patron saint of Moscow and Russia.
State Duma.
Earlier it was "Gosplan" (State Committee for Planning) building.
All for now. Maybe a bit later i'll post some more... if you want.>
