NYC:Brooklyn hoods-Plumb Beach
Heading across the creek brings us into the hood known as Plumb Beach. It goes from Plumb Beach Channel to the Gotham Ave Canal between Gerritsen Ave and Shell Bank Creek. This hood is mostly residential. Originally this used to be an island that stood in the inlet. Throughout much of the time, it was an isolated from the rest of the area. Durring the 1800's, a number of shacks were built to settle there. In 1940, the Belt Pkwy was built as the the estern end was filled in to create Marine Pk. In the 1990's, Plumb Beach became part of the Gateway National Recreation Area for being known for having offshore birds. It still looks as much as it did around the early 20th century. You can get here by taking the B31 bus around where it ends. Here is what you will find in Plumb Beach.
