or will be soon in my estimation.
The base photo was taken from west of Park Lawn (Humber Bay Parks).
Any projects that I included with an unknown status (or may have to face
the OMB for approval such as Sapphire) are seen as "in progress" and flagged
with construction cranes. The only complete fabrication is the unknown
project for Gerrard and Yonge which may include RoCP, but will be huge in
any case. Signature received that "in progress" treatment because the final height is
bound to change (upwards I'm betting).
I had to give up adding all the projects underway or approved for the western
waterfront. As you can see there is a complete wall of towers as is, that
completely obscure 18 Yonge, 4 towers of Pinnacle Centre, Infinity etc..
I couldn't include Malibu and just hinted at the 20 or so towers that will add
to the Fort York neighbourhood, Liberty Village etc. not to mention all the
other Cityplace towers.... just too many buildings from this POV.
Some of the present u/c "biggies" such as One King West and Spire can't
even be glimpsed behind the dense core.
Almost every new building was created from scratch from elevations and
using "sample skins" to create the finished product.
On left side of the photo, I used a sort of "long lens" treatment to squash the
breaks of green/low rise that separate North York from Y&E etc. so that at
least a hint of the breadth of the north south skyline could be seen. Real
buildings were used but some license was obviously taken. For
out-of-towners, the height of some projects such as Quantum 2 can be
explained by the very substantial rise in elevation from the lake (south) to the
northern clusters.
The pale little cluster on the top left of the render is a glimpse of the North
York cluster... some of those buildings are nearly 400 feet high!
Below you will find a small version of the render, a before and after snapshot
and link to a larger image for those with a fast connection (half a meg) who
want a closer look.
Feel free to post this any where, but I would appreciate it if you didn't mess
with it. Enjoy.
