Tokyo For An Afternoon - Five Hours Of Crowds, Chaos, And Bliss

It's the last weekend in Japan for my visiting brother...so that could only mean a required trip to Tokyo. For the afternoon, as it turned out, which is a terrible tease. And because I don't make the 100 minute journey to the capital megacity nearly as often as I should, it also means photos (and videos!) If you like crowd pics, this is your lucky day.

shinkansen track 14, on a sweltering Nagoya morning

all (or none!) aboard

video from shinkansen racing through Shizuoka

a monstrosity going up near Shinagawa

no nihonjin in line!

first stop: Akihabara

which can only mean...giveaway DVD release displays

well-placed advertising

lame AV video selection

nintendo toilets

and the requisite rip-off electronics

but let's face it, it looks great outside

back to the (recently remodeled??) station

Yamanote line heaven

next stop for us is Shibuya, but he's looking pretty unsure!

okii-dori

Yamanote Line video

wanted to give the new south exit at Shibuya station a try...what a long walk!

but well worth it for getting the grit tour

Shibuya station pedestrian bridge view

SHIBUYA CROWD FLOOD - not the biggest ones I've seen here before but not bad for an atrociously humid friday afternoon

Shibuya crossing video

now for others who I'm sure frequent the area far more than I...(otto, Shawn, etc.) does the daytime quiet at the top of the hill *ever* stop shocking you??

shibuya at its best

heartful crowd

heartful teen haven

heartful escaretah

heartful bus stop

heartful crossing

heartful stations

In the heart of a Tokyo station crowd

I *heart* urban japan
