MACAU [6] Venture to the Chinese Border

Macau is bordered by the Chinese city of Zhuhai on three sides. It's not hard to get to the border. After all, Macau is very small and there are free shuttle buses from the Sands casino near the ferry terminal to the northern border crossing at Barrier Gate. There is also a bus terminus right underneath the crossing.

4. On this day, a steady stream of people were trekking towards the crossing, carrying a lot of interesting goods. I noticed a theme. People were consistently hauling large boxes of Pringles, a specific type of beer with a golden can, and even Tempo tissues.









Next to the border crossing is Sun Yat Sen Park, which goes right to the border fence, with Zhuhai clearly visible on the other side.

A grass median and 2 fences separate the Macau Special Administrative Region with the Zhuhai Special Economic Zone.
