Port-of-Spain started developing in the post-WW2 oil boom. A major banking and buisiness center of the English-speaking Caribbean. It is also the home to a number of renound colleges

Port-of-Spain is also the originator and home of the Carnival festival, which spread all over the Caribbean, as well as Diwali, Phagwa, and Eid festivals.

With Kingston, Jamaica, Port-of-Spain is the other center of the Caribbean musical world, and gave the world Steel Pan, Calypso, Soca, and Chutney music.

The mix of peoples, cultures, colors, festivals and music is the reason its called the Rainbow of the Caribbean. That and the prolific number of rainbows that Trinidad's unique location creates.
